Asst. to the Pastor
Rev. Cokiesha Bailey-Robinson can be described as a worshiper, an encourager, a persistent woman of prayer, a life coach, writer, minister, and a woman who desires to usher people into the presence of God.
Cokiesha is a native of Dallas, Texas and a product of Concord Baptist Church, where she served in ministry for many years under the tutelage of her father and hero, the late Reverend Doctor E.K. Bailey. She and her siblings worked with their parents as they faithfully served Concord for more than twenty five years. She attributes her love for God and church to the tender times spent as a child and teenager serving, learning, and observing her parents and other servant-leaders. Her greatest joy comes from encouraging and watching people discover their God-given potential.
After graduating from D.W. Carter High School in 1991, Cokiesha attended Fisk University in Nashville, TN. In 1996, she earned a B.A. in English with emphasis in Mass Communication. During her matriculation at Fisk, she busied herself by working as a Resident Assistant. She also enjoyed working with WFSK Radio, the Fisk Newspaper, and as the President of the Fisk Baptist Student Union. Additionally, her interest in mass communication heightened as she served as an intern for Gospel Today Magazine in Nashville.
With a heart for mass media and a special interest in radio, Cokiesha returned to Texas and later worked for WRR Radio in Dallas and the Radio Advertising Bureau in Los Colinas, TX. At the R.A.B. she gained knowledge in radio marketing and radio writing. Soon thereafter, she became a Radio Marketing Associate and a “Radio Gets Results” writer.
Recognizing that God had other plans for her life, she found herself drawn to ministry work and began working at the Concord Church as a full time staff member where she served for several years in a myriad of ways under the stellar leadership of Pastor Bailey and Pastor Bryan Carter. In addition to working on staff, Cokiesha lead Bible study groups, served as a conference speaker, and enjoyed serving as a prayer warrior.
On August 3, 2003, she acknowledged her call into the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach the uncompromising truths of Christ. Soon thereafter, she entered Beeson Divinity School of Samford University and has enjoyed learning and growing as a minister. She was voted by her peers to serve two terms as student chaplain and invited to serve as a school hostess/ambassador for special guests.
Cokiesha is the recipient of several scholarships awarded by the Concord Church and Beeson Divinity School. She is also the first recipient of the Ella Mitchell Scholarship awarded by “Those Preaching Women.”
Additionally, as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Cokiesha enjoys meeting and empowering “sisters” throughout the nation. She served as one the chaplains for Dallas Alumnae Chapter in 1997.
Cokiesha loves writing and traveling. She spends her free time writing Christian devotions for Mt. Neboh Baptist Church, ChristianDevotions.us and Sheila Bailey Ministries. She also cherishes the opportunities to share in several book projects with people that she admires and respects. She has contributed to, "This Is My Story" written by Dr. Cleo Larue (Westminister), "Planting Trust, Knowing Peace" by Mrs. Denise George (Zondervan) and "Farther In and Deeper Down," which was co-authored with her father and mother, Dr. E.K. Bailey and Dr. Sheila Bailey (Moody Press). Her travels include: Africa, Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Turkey and throughout the United States.
Cokiesha has been a member of the Sixth Ave. Baptist Church in Birmingham where she served in the Kerygma Ministry and as a ministerial contact person for hospitalized and home bound members under the spiritual umbrella of Dr. A.B. Sutton.
In December of 2007, she earned a Master of Divinity degree from Beeson Divinity School of Samford University.
In March of 2008 she began a new season as the Assistant to the Pastor of the Mt. Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem, NY under the visionary leadership of Dr. J. M. Green.
